In addition to providing consultancy to game designers and heritage bodies, the H&GL explores connections between the past and games by directly publishing its own tabletop and digital games, including wargame and role-playing game supplements, and apps.

Wargame Supplements

Rampant Adventures is a series of wargame supplements for Lion Rampant – Medieval Wargaming Rules and other games of the same family, such as The Men Who Would be Kings, by award winning game designer Daniel Mersey, who was our first Game Designer in Residence (2021-2022). Their rules are very easy to pick up and also malleable, which means that, while the original games are meant for broad periods and geographical contexts, in our research-led supplements we can adapt them to specific historical contexts with the purpose of exploring them through gaming. Our supplements are in equal part history books and game supplements. For example, our campaigns are based on real historical characters and events, and our scenarios come from historical sources, which we quote and then bring to interact with on your tabletop. You need the original rules sets to play the supplements, but they are also easily adaptable to other rules sets.

Series editors: Daniel Mersey and Gianluca Raccagni.
